History
Thomas Nielsen won several amateur and professional tournaments during his career, including
the Norwegian Championship and Trinidad & Tobago Open.
Career highlight was winning the Turkish Open ‘98 on the European Challenge Tour (30 birdies in 72 holes).
In 1998 he became the first Norwegian player to participate in a US PGA Tour event in the Gene Sarazan World Open in Atlanta.
Thomas playing style was very "attack", producing tons of birdies,
eagles and 3 albatrosses in international tournaments,
but also few triples sneaked on to the card.
The same season Thomas was just about to enter the big league, his career was very unfortunately ended by a very severe and early-born daughter and the life as a professional golfer became very difficult after that. Thomas struggled on what to do, but he was very familiar with video and thought the golftechnique on video and internet was a brilliant combination, the site was launched shortly after in 2001.
Slammergolf may be the first pure video site of its kind ever on internet and through the years the site has been visited by hundreds of thousands and caused lots of joyful moments.
Thomas still has good playing abilities and does a few trickshows during the year. He has been working for NRK and Viasat Golf commentating the European and the PGA Tour, but works today full time with Slammergolf.com and golf instruction at Ballerud Golf & Treningssenter at Høvik, outside Oslo.
